Profiles, links and sync
SyncPlanned
The same Arx on every Mac, through your own iCloud account. Planned for before 1.0.
Arx doesn't do this yet. This page describes the plan, which may change.
Arx will sync through your own iCloud account. There will be no Arx account, and nothing will pass through our servers. Until then, move your setup between Macs with an Arx archive.
The plan
- Sync stays free and uses your iCloud account.
- Arx offers it during setup, and nothing syncs until you turn it on.
- What syncs by default: profiles, spaces, folders, pinned tabs, Favorites, and portable preferences such as appearance, search engines, shortcuts and Air Traffic Control rules. You can turn off each category.
- Open tabs from your other Macs appear under Tabs from other devices. Opening one makes a new local tab.
- History sync is opt-in and off by default.
- Cookies, sessions, passwords, windows and assistant grants stay on each Mac.
- Signing out of iCloud keeps your local data and pauses sync. Deleting what's in iCloud is a separate, explicit action.
iCloud's own data protection applies. End-to-end encryption depends on whether you turned on Advanced Data Protection for your Apple Account.
