What's in each Settings pane, and how appearance works per profile and per space.

This page is a first draft. It may change before the public beta.

Open Settings with ⌘,. The sidebar has a search, so you can type the name of a switch instead of hunting for it.

Appearance

Arx follows your Mac's light or dark appearance. You can override it at two levels, and the narrower one wins:

  • Per profile, in Settings → Profiles: Theme and Film grain.
  • Per space, from the space's menu → Appearance.

Each is Default, which follows the level above, or a fixed choice: Light or Dark for the theme, On or Off for film grain.

Film grain

Settings → Appearance → Window texture adds grain to the sidebar and window frame. Page content stays clear.

Grain size1, from 1 to 3

Reset to Default puts them back.

Your identity card

The Arx pane shows a card with the number of profiles, spaces and tabs you have. Flip it over, or cycle through its 11 styles.

Quitting

Warn before quitting is on by default, so ⌘Q asks first. If downloads are running, Arx asks whether to Cancel Downloads and Quit or Keep Downloading.

Planned
Settings still to come: a default-browser action, automatic updates, restoring windows on launch as an option, automatic archiving of old tabs, remote search suggestions, showing the full URL, sounds and haptics, per-site permissions, clearing browsing data, payment cards, and a per-profile download folder.
