Bring in from another browser
Move your profiles, spaces, pinned tabs and folders from Arc, Chrome or Dia, or from a bookmarks file.
This page is a first draft. It may change before the public beta.
The migration assistant reads your other browser and previews what comes over before anything changes. It only reads from the source browser and never changes its data.
Open it from Settings → Advanced → Import…, or from Import from Another Browser… in the welcome window.
Open the migration assistant, pick Arc, look over the review of profiles, spaces and pinned tabs, then import into new profiles.
Sources
| Source | What Arx reads |
|---|---|
| Arc | Favorites, pinned tabs and folders, and open tabs, from each of your Arc spaces. Easels, notes and welcome tabs aren't imported. |
| Google Chrome | Each profile's bookmarks. Every Chrome profile becomes one space. |
| Dia | Each profile's bookmarks, the same way as Chrome. |
| Arx archive | A file you exported from Arx. See Export and import. |
| Bookmarks HTML | A bookmarks file exported from any browser. |
Passwords, cookies and signed-in sessions are never imported.
Choose what comes over
Pick the categories: Favorites, Bookmarks, Open Tabs, Archived Tabs, History, Extensions and Preferences. Extensions are listed for you to reinstall by hand; they're never installed automatically.
Then choose where they go:
- New profiles matching the source. The default when the source has profiles.
- The current space.
- Choose for each space.
Review, then import
The review marks every item as New, Already imported or Can't import. Import runs one category at a time, and you can cancel and retry. Arx never imports the same item twice, so running the assistant again later only adds what's new.
